Producer Note

The Sanz family have been producing quality wines for over 150 years. Run by the fourth generation, Javier Sanz has 104 hectares of vineyard, including the viticultural treasure of the pre-phylloxera vineyard of El Pago de Saltamontes. Despite his ultramodern winery, he maintains that the key to outstanding wine is growing good grapes. He believes in the traditional relationship between the grower and the vine. Wines by Javier Sanz embody a philosophy; a vision. Faithful to their origins, they bear the touch of the grower.

Vineyard

Javier Sanz's vineyards are laid out in a mosaic of plots, farms and small vineyards all within the Vallaloid municipality of La Seca. The continental climate has a large diurnal temperature range and low humidity. The vines are grown in gravelly, pebbly soils, which are poor in organic matter and have good drainage, the perfect combination for the Verdejo variety. The viticultural processes value quality over quantity and as such the health and vigour of the vineyards are constantly monitored.

Winemaking

A mechanical harvest took place in the cool of the night in order to preserve the aromas. The grapes were then fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel vats at 15°C to maintain the aromatics and purity of fruit.

Tasting Note

A clean, fresh, bright wine full of vibrant aromas of pineapple, kiwi, passion fruit, combined with a hint of mineral complexity. Rich and well structured with a pure persistent finish.

Serving Suggestion

A fresh and versatile wine, which pairs beautifully with olives, vinaigrettes, lemon chicken and creamy lighter cheeses.

Grape

Verdejo 85%, Viura 15%
