This gem of a wine comes from a small plot of Clairette planted in 1977 and almost forgotten, until the vineyard was salvaged more than four decades later. This wine is crafted with minimal interference allowing the fruit of these once untended, unirrigated old bush vines to express a unique provenance.

TASTING NOTE

Delicately aromatic with lychee, greengage and citrus fruit. Taut and textural palate with apricot, mango and ripe citrus stone fruit. Concentrated yet restrained, the fruit is perfectly balanced by fresh acidity and mineral notes. Gently savoury and long on the finish,

PRODUCTION

From late ripening Clairette Blanche grapes from 44 year-old vines. Grapes are hand picked in the early morning and transported to the winery where they are whole bunch pressed and settled for 24 hours. Racked to 4th fill French oak barrels and slowly fermented. Thick lees contact for about 6 months with regular ‘bâtonnage’ then racked from thick lees with sulphur added and aged in the same barrels for a further 2-3 months.

FOOD MATCH

Perfect companion to zesty salads, light meat dishes and even seasonal seafood options.
