Rich and multi layered with lots of ripe dark berry fruits and dark chocolate flavours, concentrated and intense. A wine to be savoured.

Producer Note

Roccolo Grassi was established in 1996 by Bruno Sartori and his two children Francesca and Marco. Based in Veneto, they produce wines of unique character and strong personality, which are expressive of their origins. Winemaker Marco Sartori is one of hottest talents in the region. His philosophy is very simple; yields in the vineyard are significantly reduced to obtain a fabulous fruit concentration. The 14 hectares of vines are farmed sustainably and minimal intervention takes place in the winery. The result is a collection of world class wines distinguished by their pure elegance.

Vineyard

The estate comprises 13 hectares of vineyard with a total production of only 38,000 bottles per annum. The vines are grown in volcanic soils.

Winemaking

The grapes were dried until the first week of December. The fermentation and maceration followed, taking place in tank and lasting for 30 days. Once the alcoholic fermentation was finished, the juice was then transferred to French oak barriques of which 50% were new, for a period of 24 months. This was followed by 18 months in bottle, prior to release.

Tasting Note

A rich and opulent wine, showing intense aromas of ripe dark berried fruits with a hint of bitter almond. Beautifully concentrated deep fruits are layered with nuances of elegant oak and savoury notes, on the complex palate. Smooth, with supple tannins and a fine, lingering finish - this is a wine to be savoured.

Serving Suggestion

Pair with traditional dishes from Veneto, pasta with a strong tomato or truffle sauce, beef, game and stews such as steak, lamb, venison and wild boar.

Grape

Corvina 60%, Rondinella 20%, Corvinone 15%, Croatina 5%
