History

Former D de Lamarque, Donjon de Lamarque is the second wine of the Château de Lamarque. Château de Lamarque is a splendid vineyard of Haut-Médoc. Built for more 1 000 years, the Château was always the property of the same family ! The 35 hectares of the vineyard is composed of a terroir of gravels. The planted grape varieties is composed of 45% of Cabernet-Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc, 35% Merlot and 5% of Petit Verdot. Ranked as Cru Bourgeois Supérieur since 1932, the property produce excellent wines, characterised by finesse and elegance. The archives attest to the fact that the vines existed since the XVe century. In the XVIII century, the vine culture knows an important fast-growing. After the troubles of the French Revolution, the estate continued to developed its growing activity. Despite all, the prosperety of the vineyard will be disrupted by the vicissitudes of two World Wars. In 1960, the estate finished to get in fine thank’s the instigation of Marie Louise d’Evry and his husband Roger Gromand. In 1985, their son, Pierre-Gilles Gromand-Brunet d’Evry, in cooperation with his wife Marie-Hélène, took over the property. Their efforts are rewarded in 1983 when the Château De Lamarque became member of the Union des Grands Crus of Bordeaux. Inside this prestigious and challenging club, the property is considered such as a famous Grands Crus Classés. According to Pierre-Gilles Gromand-d’Evry, “The philosophy of our winemaking process is founded on the respect of the fruit. No one movment by excess, only softness.”

Tasting Notes

Donjon de Lamarque 2015 has a bright and depp red color. The nose is intense and offers toasted notes with red fruits aromas. On the palate, the attack is fresh with cherry touch. The wine is well-balanced, structured with beautiful fruits

Food Pairing

Nice to serve with white and red meats, spicy dishes, toasted fishes and with dessert with red fruits
