Drinks Parties

The wines below are, in our opinion, excellent wines to serve at any drinks party as they are wines that will appeal to many people without breaking the bank! The  Cavas are very well priced as we are importing these ourselves directly from Catalunya and they are currently only available from us. Wines for drinks parties need to be easy drinking, with the whites not too acidic and the reds not too heavy or tannic. Of course all of these wines suit many other occasions as well! 

All of these wines can be supplied on a sale or return basis, so you can always ensure that you have enough of each wine, without thinking that you might be drinking the same wines for weeks afterwards!

Fizz

Marrugat Cava Brut, Pinord £8.95
Spanish sparkling wine made by the same method as Champagne but using traditional Spanish grape varieties and aged for 9 months. This wine has fairly delicate flavours and is fresh and dry. 

Marrugat Cava Gran Brut Reserva, Pinord £9.80
As with the Cava Brut but this wine has been aged for 30 months. A lovely aromatic, fresh wine which has good body and the fizz keeps it fresh and lively. 

Castillo Montblanc Cava Brut, Montblanc £9.35
Crisp, fresh tasting Cava with just a hint of toastiness.  It has been bottle aged for 18 - 24 months. 

Marrugat Cava Rosado, Pinord £10.40
This Cava has been made from the indigenous Trepat grape.  It is a fresh, crisp wine with a delightful pink colour. 

Whites

Stella Blanco Dry Muscat 2009 £6.74
This delightful dry white from the Setubal peninsular in Portugal really shows the fresh and fragrant character of the Muscat grape.

Capito Pinot Grigio 2009 £6.35
Pinot Grigio can be thin and acidic but not this one!  This wine has good fruit to make it very easy drinking. Pleasant acidity on the finish gives a clean after taste.

Castillo Montblanc Macabeo Chardonnay 2009 £6.85
Beautifully balanced between fruit and acidity. Refreshingly dry on the palate, showing a really delicious blend with great structure.

Tierra Antica Sauvignon Blanc 2010 £6.31
This Chilean white is understandably popular! It is bright, lively and fresh with a lasting flavour with hints of ripe green melons and grass.

Broken Shackle Classic White 2009 £5.88
Clean, dry, fruity Aussie white.  Very quaffable.

Reds

Broken Shackle Classic Red 2009 £5.88
This well made classic Aussie red is easy drinking with ripe fruit flavours whilst retaining lightness and balance.

Gaudiana Tempranillo £5.95
Medium bodied warm, smooth red which is well balanced in terms of fruit to oak. It has rounded, structured tannins and a long finish. 

Stella Rosso 2009 £6.50
A fruity, modern style of red from Portugal, which is soft and approachable. 

Valle Dorado Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 £6.41
Lovely dark curranty fruit flavours abound in this wine which also shows some soft tannins.

Tierra Antica Merlot 2009 £6.31
Soft fruity un-demanding Chilean Merlot which always goes down well at a party!

Attractive glasses including flutes are loaned free of charge with a minimum delivery of 24 bottles of wine. They can be returned dirty but a charge of £3.00 per case or part case will be made. Chipped, cracked or broken glasses are charged at £1.00 per glass.
