We passionately believe in the quality, and quality-price ratio, of Chile. Our wine sourcer, Steve Daniel, spent his formative years in the Wine Trade introducing Chile to the wine public of Great Britain. Time and time again we return to Chile to look for great wines at great prices, working with a network of long-established contacts in vineyards and in wineries to obtain the best fruit and the best conditions in which to turn it into great-value wine! The Tierra Antica range includes a collection of attractively packaged wines which represent wonderful value for money.
The grapes are sourced from the Central Valley, where the vines are vertically positioned and spaced at 1.5 x 2.2 m. Drip irrigation takes place to ensure the vines receive the optimum amount of water for vine growth and health. The crops are green harvested to eliminate short shoots and promote a healthy canopy.
Most of the grapes were hand-harvested and only a small fraction of the harvest was picked by machine. Once received at the winery the bunches were carefully selected on the sorting table and pressed. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures of between 12° to 16°C for a period of 14 to 16 days. Temperatures were carefully monitored throughout the vinification in order to preserve the delicate aromatic expression. The wine was stabilised for between 15 to 20 days at 4°C and then earth-filtered, prior to bottling.
