Tasting Note
Aromas of peach are complemented by citrus notes of grapefruit. A smooth wine full of white fruit, citrus characters, a hint of vanilla and exotic fruits. Cool and generous finish with subtle notes of ripe peach and a hint blossom.
Producer Note
Gérard Bertrand is one of the most outstanding winemakers in the South of France, where he owns numerous estates among the most prestigious crus of Languedoc-Roussillon. Named in 2012 as the IWC Red Winemaker of the Year and Wine Enthusiast's European Winery of the Year, he is known locally as the "King" of the Languedoc. Brought up in the Languedoc vineyards, Gérard Bertrand is committed to sharing the characteristics and exceptional diversity of each of the terroirs. Twenty years of know-how ensures that wines bearing Gérard Bertrand's signature have a unique style driven each day by four fundamental values: excellence, authenticity, conviviality and innovation. We firmly believe Gérard will become one of the leading French names in the UK.
Vineyard
Gérard Bertrand's commitment to sustainable agriculture has been recognised with the ECOCERT certification, guaranteeing organic production, environmentally-friendly packaging and a low carbon footprint. The soils in the vineyard are clay-limestone, which tend to stay cooler and help to retain moisture, beneficial in this warm climate site.
Winemaking
The grapes were harvested by hand when they reached peak maturity. The fruit was lightly pressed to extract the finest juices, then a portion of the juice was cold settled for 48 hours. A proportion of the must was fermented in barrels, while the rest took place in temperature controlled stainless steel vats, maximising the fruit's aromas and freshness. The wine remained on the lees for three months with pumping over every 10 days, after the alcoholic fermentation had completed. The wine was gently fined before bottling.
Serving Suggestion
Enjoy with shellfish, grilled fish with delicate sauces or white meats.
