Tasting Note

This wine has a perfumed nose with lemon sherbet, hints of stone fruit and flint. The palate is well balanced with delicate lemon, considerable minerality and hints of creamy citrus on the finish. The wine has a generous palate weight.

Producer Details

Cave de Turckheim is situated in the pretty village of Turckheim situated to the north west of Colmar. Firmly established as one of the best co-operatives in the world Cave de Turckheim always focus on quality combining rigour, know-how and patience with the latest technology and a steady stream of investment. Michel Lihrmann has been their senior winemaker for over 25 years and strongly believes that varietals in Alsace should express their delicate characteristics and favours the dryer style of Alsace wines. Testimony to their consistency and attention to detail has been the clutch of medals and awards gained over the years especially for the Grand Cru Brand range, for which they won IWC Trophy for White Wine in 2004 (Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Brand 2000).
Cave de Turckheim produce an extensive range of wines, from their value-for-money Cave Tradition varietal range to the wines from 3 different Grand Crus. Central to Cave de Turckheim’s success is their constant willingness to innovate having launched the Réserve range to great acclaim, the Terroir D’Alsace range (formerly Lieux-Dit) and revamped the labels of their signature Grand Cru range and most recently the introduction of several organic wines.

In The Vineyard

This 100% Pinot Blanc is blended from 80% Pinot Blanc Auxerrois and 20% Pinot Blanc. The grapes are selected from vineyards with diverse soils - limestone, granite, gravel, marl and sandstone - which impart different characters and styles to the overall blend, and harvested by hand and machine, depending on the site.

In The Winery

Produced 'traditionally' by winemaker Jean Michel Lihrmann - pneumatic pressing, temperature controlled fermentation, no fining and light filtration before bottling - all to preserve fruit and aromatic qualities and elegance. His philosophy is to make wines with good acidity and fruit balance.

Food Recommendations

For any occasion when you want a dry white that is very drinkable; but seafood, fish, salads and entrees would all work too.

Awards & Press

Pinot Blanc is a totally underrated grape variety, as it is so smooth, ripe and enjoyable. Perfect for charming your taste buds, it is also a talented wine when it comes to food matching. Use this as an aperitif wine and serve all manner of spicy nibbles with it and it'll sail through each one. Matthew Jukes
