Producer Note

Cantina Tramin was founded in 1898 and has 310 member winegrowers who follow its strict directives on the cultivation of the vines. The vineyards are an integral part of the enchanting and picturesque landscape of the Alto-Adige region of Northern Italy and cover 260 hectares situated on the sunny slopes of the region at altitudes ranging from 250 to 850 metres above sea level. In 2011, Cantina Tramin gained the "Double Stella" award. This is given to a winery for achieving the prestigious "3 Bicchieri" 20 times and is awarded by the Gambero Rosso.

Vineyard

The grapes are grown in 14 hectares of vineyards across three areas: near Montan, Egna and Tramin. Alto Adige is a dynamic wine growing region in northern Italy that combines a brisk Alpine climate, mountain viticulture and complex geology, with the brilliance of Mediterranean sunshine. The grapes come from vineyards planted in calcareous clay, limestone and gravel soils.

Winemaking

The grapes were gently pressed immediately upon arrival at the winery. Fermentation took place in small temperature controlled stainless steel tank at 19°C. The wine went through partial malolactic fermentation. It was matured in stainless steel vats, retaining both freshness and purity of fruit.

Tasting Note

This Pinot Grigio brings the alpine freshness factor to the glass! Rich, full and dry with expressive notes of ripe pear and peach complemented by floral hints. Delicate on the palate with a zesty citrus character layered with a hint of almond through to a long, persistent finish.

Serving Suggestion

Recommended with fish antipasti, risotto with asparagus, omelettes and pasta.
