Spring Tasting 2015Our Spring Tasting was great fun and we had some good feedback on all the wines on show. We always find it fascinating to see which wines were popular and sold well and we thought you might find it interesting too.
The top two best sellers were not too much of a surprise as they always do well at big tastings and these were Faultline Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand and The White Viognier from Australia, but what was a bit more surprising was that Mireia from Spain (an aromatic Muscat, Gewurztraminer blend with a touch of Sauvignon) was loved as was Gymnasium Fritz Willi Riesling from Germany. This is an off dry Riesling with plenty of fruit and a touch of acidity on the finish.
The wines from Los Haroldos are perennial favourites at our tastings and this one was no exception with their Malbec Rosado being the favourite rose and their Malbec/Cabernet Sauvignon being the favourite red of the night. Another very popular red was Clos de Torribas Tempranillo Reserva from Penedes which punches well above its weight and as a consequence we have sold out till next week when our Spanish shipment arrives! Santa Alba Reserve Pinot Noir from Chile was well liked as was the Cotes du Rhone Villages Cairanne which was ordered in bottles and magnums.
In case you wish to note the date of our Christmas Tasting, it is on Friday 27 November so that you don't miss out!
