Winery

This wine is made at the Pazo Pondal winery in the Condado de Tea region on the border with Portugal. This is the furthest inland and is the warmest and driest of the sub zones of Rias Baixas.  The winery was founded in 1998 and is a young and dynamic family owned winery who also produce the own label Albarino for Fortnum and Mason in London. Pazo Rosqueira is exclusively elaborated for Bodegas Pinord.  They own 12 hectares of prime vineyards with espalier trained vines.  They are working towards organic production which is only potentially possible because this is the driest region of the area.  Anne Martin is the young and talented winemaker.

Elaboration

The wine is made with cutting-edge technology to conserve the varietal purity of the Albariño grape. After fermentation at a controlled temperature between 18-20ºC in stainless steel tanks, the wine is gently clarified, stabilised and filtered before it is bottled for the market.

Tasting Notes

Golden yellow, with greenish reflections.  On the nose, its intensity is medium-high, with floral aromas and white fruit nuances. It has a clean and elegant aroma. In the mouth, the wine is fresh, broad and round, with good aromatic persistence.  It is polished with balanced acidity and is widely sold in top restaurants in the north of Spain.

Food matches

The perfect match with really fresh fish and seafood.
