Tasting Note
This is an unusual and beautiful blend of Grenache and Pinot Noir, the earthiness of the Grenache being balanced by the elegance of the Pinot.
Producer Note
What a great concept - a Tour of the South of France - get out the vélo and let's join the touriste-routiers. But why be part of the peloton when you can attack from the front, and make wine which really matters and offer wine lovers liberté de choix? Hence, among the delights on offer here is a beautiful Picpoul de Pinet - the fish wine - a vivacious Grenache Blanc/Sauvignon Blanc blend and a quite beautiful and unusual Grenache/Pinot Noir blend.
Vineyard
The wines for Tournee du Sud were sourced from a range of carefully selected suppliers across the south of France during repeated visits during the spring and summer of 2013, followed by more visits during the harvest. The initial blend for this wine was put together in the importer's tasting room in early November and the final blending by Beverly Tabbron MW and Steve Daniel, took place towards the end of last year and were bottled at the beginning of this year, retaining the freshness of this style.
Serving Suggestion
Most red meats, pepper-based stews, cassoulet, wild boar and some fish dishes such as halibut and tuna.
