Tasting Note
Bright and lifted Shiraz with a wonderful perfumed dusty nose of dark fruit. The palate has a very silky mouthfeel with mulberry, blackberry and a hint of sour cherry. There is a touch of vanilla, as well as some freshness and an elegant slighty sappy finish.
Producer Details
Quintessentially Australian, this range offers consistent quality, hugely appealing, commercial wine styles that have gained a loyal following. Reflecting the skill and experience in seeking out the very best of regional Australia, these wines capture ideal climatic conditions and pure varietal definition. A great deal of work has been done on improving the sourcing of these wines in recent years to ensure great consistency and quality year in, year out and this is really starting to show now.
In The Vineyard
This Shiraz is sourced from Langhorne Creek in South Australia, noted for producing some of Australia's finest Shiraz.
In The Winery
The Shiraz grapes were fermented in temperature controlled tanks maintained at 22 - 25ºC to avoid extracting any harsh tannins, with the fermentationspumped over to extract good colour. 20% of the final blend is barrel aged.

'Uncomplicated, with some spice and medium weight – very sound,' added consultant Peter McCombie MW. With its palate of stewed red and black fruits and good acidity, a good food-matcher too." Sommelier Wine Awards 2013, Judges Comments2010 Vintage: " Boutinot, Soldier's Block Shiraz, 2010, Australia Once more this modestly priced trooper has garnered the gongs. 'Rich black and purple fruits, combine with leathery spicy notes on the nose,' said Terroirs' Emilie Courtois. The palate is juicy with some grip, showing good concentration and hints of liquorice and leather. Excellent value, and it goes with food. Burgers for starters, steak as you'll see in our Food Match chapter." Sommelier Wine Awards 2012 2008 Vintage: "Blackcurrant, blueberries, cassis, vanilla, sweet spice - this wine overdelivers on the flavour front, balancing ripe fruit with savoury notes. It has a big, gutsy personality" said Nicola Thomson, wine consultant, Sommelier Wine Awards 2011, Judges Comments
