Tasting note
Ruby red colour enriched with violet reflections; generous bouquet, which recalls ripe cherries and plums, with pleasant notes of cocoa and vanilla. This wine has a velvety texture, softened by the warmth of the Primitivo grapes; the finish offers notes of persistent sweetness.
Producer note
In 1962, 19 vine growers from San Marzano, whose families had farmed the land for generations, combined their efforts to establish 'Cantine San Marzano'. Through the decades this coooperative has grown significantly, attracting over 1200 vine growers, using modern and technologically advanced plants and producing elegant wines without forgetting the obligation to the very old Apulian wine tradition. Nowadays the melding of time honoured tradition, passion and sensibility with contemporary techniques enables this winery to produce wines with distinctive varietals and regional characters, marvellously reflecting individual attention, seasonal variation and local terroir.
Vineyard note
Vines of San Marzano, Salento, Puglia. The area is about 100 meters above sea level, with high average temperatures and medium-low rainfall. The soft soil layer is clayey and quite thin, with a good presence of rocks. Harvest period: Second week of September.

Thermo-controlled maceration for about 10 days, followed by the alcoholic fermentation with selected yeasts. Ageing in French and American wood barrels for 6 months.
Grape

A reorder of wines previously ordered. To be honest I don't drink wine very often maybe a couple of bottles a month. But these wines were great. Very quick delivery, well packaged.
