This wine is made at a winery in the Ribera del Duero area of Spain which is owned by Bodegas Pinord whose main winery is in Vilafranca del Penedes with a second winery in Priorat.
Grapes: 100% Tempranillo (Tinta Fina) grapes from 35 year old vines
Winemaking: The grapes are harvested and sorted by hand and then put into a maceration vat to retain the aromas. This is followed by 21 days of fermentation at a controlled temperature of 23C. The wine is racked and put into French and American oak barrels for 18 months and then bottled for further ageing.
Appearance: Bright, Clean intense red with a ruby coloured backdrop
Aroma: Aromatically very complex with ripe, jammy fruits, fine spices, dried fruit and nuts perfectly balanced with the oak flavours from the barrel ageing
Taste: Powerful and well balanced with the slightly fleshy feel of velvet. The tannins make themselves known, providing a pleasant and elegant complexity. It has a pleasant mouth feel and a long intense finish.
Serve: With red meats, game and hard cheeses.
