Producer Note
At Château Lestrille, Estelle Roumage makes modern, fruit-driven wines. They use sustainable winegrowing practices to respect the balance of the soil as they believe the essence of winemaking lies in the vineyard itself. They vinify each plot on their 45 hectare property separately with tailor-made precision. The Château is located at the northern point of the Entre-deux-Mers appellation in the small town of St. Germain du Puch between Libourne and Bordeaux.
Vineyard
The vineyards are managed using sustainable viticultural practices. The utmost respect is given to the balance between the vines, their natural environment and the soil. These cool clay and silt soils provide good water retention and impart a powerful quality to the final wine. This cuvée is made from plots which produce the fruitiest Merlot.
Winemaking
The grapes were picked at the optimum maturity levels. Fermentation took place in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks to retain the fruit characteristics of Merlot whilst also preserving the essence of the terroir. This wine was bottled after 12 months ageing in stainless steel vats.
Tasting Note
A fresh, aromatic unoaked Claret, showing vibrant aromas of ripe fruit reminiscent of soft plum and cherry. Well structured with round and silky tannins and notes of cherry echoed on the palate through to a delicate hint of spice on the finish.
Serving Suggestion
A delicious red that accompanies roast chicken or barbecued meats.
