The commune of St-Etienne de Lisse lies eight kilometres west of Saint Emilion. Nine hectares of vines are grown on three different terroirs. Each plot is vinified separately to preserve their distinct characteristics. The majority of the vines are Merlot, with approximately 30% Cabernet Franc. They also have a small quantity of Malbec. Vines are replanted regularly to ensure a continuous supply of old vines for the future.
The soils are clay and limestone with a higher percentage of limestone in the hilly areas.
Each parcel of grapes was picked and vinified separately. The estate uses two press wines which were also vinified separately in temperature controlled vats. A larger proportion of the pressed wine goes towards the Grand Vin. The wine was aged in oak barriques for 10 months imparting elegance and complexity in the resulting wine.
A poised but full flavoured Saint Emilion. Blackberry jam, plums and ripe red fruits dominate the palate, layered with notes of cedar and liquorice. Rounded and approachable in style, the tannins are soft, leading to a dry and lingering finish.
Delicious served between 16-18°C with red meats, game dishes and soft cheese. Particularly good with Entrecôte Bordelaise.
