Producer Note

Chile produces remarkably good wines at amazingly good prices from its privileged position between the Andes and the Pacific, where winemakers are blessed with some of the most desirable conditions on earth: exceptional soils, ideal temperatures, intense sunlight. There is very little use of pesticide and the philosophy of the winemakers we work with is: minimal interference. We work closely with a handful of the finest winemakers in Chile. The importers source Viña Edmara from two main areas: the rich Central Valley area and the cooler Coastal Area. All exhibit the maximum-freshness fruit for which Chile is famous. Viña Edmara wines reflect Chile and the typicity of each of the varietals and of their terroir.

Winemaking

The grapes were picked late March to ensure the ripeness and varietal flavours, crushed and immediately pressed. Free-run and low pressure were used for production in order to secure maximum fruit concentration and a good acidity balance which is a characteristic of this variety. Fermentation took place at 14-15°C for three weeks. After fermentation, the wine was kept in contact with its lees for two weeks to increase complexity and gain softness.

Tasting Note

Full Viognier expression of apricots, pineapple, peaches and hints of citrus flowers which is carried through to the palate. Soft texture, well flavoured with a refreshing finish.

Serving Suggestion

The perfect accompaniment to sushi, Chinese foods and salads.
