Very elegant Chardonnay with an exellent balance and a delicate bouquet of flowers, pears, citrus and vanilla hints.
Matias Riccitelli is the son of renowned winemaker Jorge Riccitelli (Bodegas Norton). Using the experience, knowledge and passion passed down from his father, Matias decided to set up his very own winery in 2009. His vineyards cover 20 hectares located in three selected sites within the premium growing region of Lujan de Cuyo, Mendoza. This is a young and dynamic project in which Matias is seeking to express the full potential of Argentine terroir.
The vineyard is located at an altitude of 1600 mts above sea level. Sunlight exposure at this high an altitude is more intense than in lower lying areas, but the altitude also means that nights are much colder, cooled by westerly winds from the Andes. This kind of daily temperature range is excellent for the production of quality grapes; the nightly cooling-off extends the ripening period, letting grapes develop rich varietal character whilst retaining acidity.
The stony, free-draining alluvial soils found in the region are excellent for viticulture: the lack of water in the soils, reducing the vines' vigor and yields and causing them to grow small, concentrated berries.
Skin maceration of 8 hrs at 10ºC followed by fermentation between 14-16 ºC. 50% is aged for 8 months in French oak barrels and 50% in small concrete tanks.
Best served with fish, every kind of seafood and roquefort cheese.
