5% Barossa Valley Semillon gives this wine a necessary spine of weighty and lime zest notes. Very refreshing with a hint of smoky minerality.
A dash of Semillon gives this wine a necessary spine of weight and lime zest notes. This wine is very refreshing, bright and an enormously enjoyable aperitif.
Established by Kym Teusner and Michael Page in 2001, Teusner’s philosophy is to produce only exceptional, affordable wines by being very selective about the fruit, which is sourced from old, well maintained vineyards in Barossa. These vineyards reliably produce balanced, complex fruit which are guided, with minimal input, into stunning wines. Kym decided to make the Righteous Shiraz because he wanted to showcase his own expression of what he considers the ultimate Barossa Valley Shiraz style...intense, powerful and long-lived.
The vineyard sits at an altitude of 360 metres above sea level, in the Woodside, Adelaide Hills region. The vineyard traverses a hill with easterly and westerly aspects. The easterly vines yield flint, struck match notes while the westerly vines are more tropical. The vines are 12 years old and are picked at night, to retain the freshness in the fruit.
The grapes were cool fermented in stainless steel over a period of four weeks with a floral yeast to enhance the varietal characteristics. 5% of barrel fermented Barossa Valley Semillon was blended in to fill the palate, adding both texture and savoury notes to the final wine.
A great match with an onion pakora or roasted sea bream. The region is famous for its goat's cheese and this wine is the perfect pairing for it.
