Delicate and complex floral aromas of rose and jasmine combine with refreshing citrus notes, in this delicious Torrontés. A fresh, crisp and balanced wine with good volume and a persistent finish.
Sierra Los Andes is a stunning duo of wines from the heart of Argentina's winemaking land. From a country infused with passion and vibrancy, these wines are equally as exciting. The elegantly packaged wines highlight perfectly the purity of fruit from Argentina. The stylish, crisp Torrontés and the heady intense Malbec, charmingly showcase these quintessentially Argentinian varieties.
This Torrontés comes from Los Indios Vineyard in Altamira, San Carlos, Uco Valley, which is situated at 1,100 metres above sea level. The terroir here is characterized by its sandy soils, with caliche and rock layers which provide great drainage. The climate with its warm days and cold nights, has an average temperature variation of 16 °C, and an average annual rainfall of 300mm, providing a long slow ripening period. Yielding five tonnes per hectare, the vines are grown on espalier training systems, using drip irrigation.
The grapes were hand picked in two stages, with the first harvest taking place at the beginning of April, to obtain freshness and the second at the end of April, when the grapes were riper to add body to the final wine. The grapes were gently de-stemmed and then carefully pressed. A pellicular maceration was performed to transfer the varietal character from the skin to the must. Fermentation was carried out in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures, of between 12 and 15°C, to preserve the primary aromas.
A delicious apéritif and a great match for lightly spiced Asian inspired cuisine, a smoked salmon roll with a fennel crème and Foie Gras with a fig purée.
