Domaine Gerovassiliou is the brainchild of Vangelis Gerovassiliou. He initiated the revival of the family vineyard by planting the nearly extinct Malagousia in 1981. This state of the art winery is now surrounded by 56 hectares of meticulously well cared vineyards on the slopes of Epanomi. Domaine Gerovassiliou guarantees consistent, high quality wines of international acclaim every year.
The vineyards are cultivated with great care and enthusiasm that leads Evangelos Gerovassiliou to constantly research and experiment with Greek and foreign varieties. New technological advances blend well with tradition throughout vine growing and vinification processes. The aim is to produce high quality wines exclusively from estate–grown grapes, wines that carry all distinct characteristics of the specific microclimate of Epanomi.
This wine is produced from Sauvignon Blanc that is cultivated in several blocks of the estate's vineyards. After skin contact, it is fermented in French oak barrels and then aged on lees for a few months. This wine will reward a few years of cellaring (up to 7) with nuances of aromas that only time in the bottle provides.
It has a lushness that will complement shellfish, sole with light lemon butter, poultry, pork and also shines when paired with smoked cheeses. To be served chilled at 10-12°C.
