Rèmole epitomises the vibrant expression of Toscana lifestyle; the pleasure of conviviality and a good wine that unites all walks of life. The historic house of Rèmole, the ‘Villa Rèmole’, is surrounded by vineyards and is situated in Sieci, 10 miles east of Florence. It is the custodian of over 700 years of history and tradition of the Frescobaldi family, as it is where many of the family members grew up. The Rèmole wines are wonderfully versatile, complementing a variety of cuisine styles; they are soft and fruity and will captivate and delight you.
2017 will be remembered as a very dry year. With the exception of a crisp January, the temperatures were consistent with seasonal averages. First buds made their appearance at the end of March. Although the cold returned in April, the buds didn’t suffer any damage and began growing rapidly in May leading to flowering. The lack of water favoured a healthy ripening of the grapes. Véraison began at the beginning of August, and the harvest took place during the second week of August, earlier than usual an in line with the rest of the year’s advanced timings.
The grapes come the heart of central Tuscany, from vineyards with the best exposures to ripen the grapes, providing maximum aromatic expression and concentration of varietal flavour. The soils are composed of sand and clay, with good drainage.
The grapes were harvested at the optimum maturity levels. The Vermentino and Trebbiano varieties were vinified separately, with fermentation taking place in temperature controlled stainless steel vats, in order to maintain each varietal's aromatic expression and purity of fruit. Malolactic fermentation did not take place retaining the crisp, vibrant style, with maturation lasting for one month in stainless steel.
Rèmole Bianco has a lovely fruitiness on the nose, with notes of ripe pear and clear scents of nectarine. Balanced, with delicate floral notes of hawthorne on the crisp, tangy and full-flavoured palate. The long-lingering finish is utterly delicious.
Perfect with aperitifs and first courses of fish, generous salads or seafood linguine.
