Domaine Ferrand has been passed down from father to son over three generations. The Domaine is now run by Nadine Ferrand, who had been making the wine together with her husband before his untimely death and who now continues the family tradition. The estate, comprising 6 hectares in Pouilly Fuissé, is situated in Solutré Pouilly at the heart of the appellation. Their wines are characterised by lovely balance and lovely flavours of fresh butter combined with a typical minerality and have been well reviewed by the Guide Hachette.
Grapes: Estate grown Chardonnay
Soil: Clay and Chalk
Age of Vines: 45 years old
Vinification: The grapes are pneumatically pressed and fermentation takes place in temperature controlled tanks. 15% of the wine is aged on its lees in wooden casks where stirring of the lees takes place once a week. The wine goes through malolactic fermentation. The wine is blended and filtered. Bottling takes place twice a year in April and September.
Colour: Pale gold with silver hues.
Taste: Spicy nose showing hints of yellow plums and mineral carried through to the palate which has notes of fresh butter. A well balanced and elegant style.
Serve: Chilled to accompany fish in sauces, and white meats in cream sauces.
