A refreshing, fragrant wine, the colour of yellow topaz. This Torrontés bursts with tropical aromas of pineapple, peach and orange blossom. Aromatic notes resonate on the palate, with fresh apricot and lychee and a hint of orange zest. Well balanced and crisp with a citrussy medium finish.
Located in the foothills of the Andes Mountains, lie the Piattelli Vineyards. The century old vines are irrigated by the pure waters melting from their snow crested peaks, a significant aspect in making their wines exquisite. At Piattelli Vineyards, they take great pride in crafting wines with a sense of place, as each region has distinct terroirs and climates. Mendoza and Cafayate are two of the best grape growing regions in Argentina and they wanted to showcase both. Led by head winemaker Valeria Antolin, the wines are produced through her passionate pursuit of perfection. Their gravity fed winery in Cafayate is one of the only gravity-flow vinification systems in Argentina, honouring their commitment to sustainable practices. Piattelli Vineyards practises sustainable farming and their Mendoza vineyards are USDA certified Organic. Their grapes are cultivated with arid-clean air, crystal-clear water and nutrient-rich soil and their award winning wines are created with wisdom, precision and love.
Piattelli Torrontés comes from the Torrontés Riojano grape, a crisp and complex grape considered the best of the sub-varietals. Grown at an elevation of 5,890 feet, the extreme thermal amplitudes produce grapes bursting with flavour. Piattelli Torrontés is an elegant rendition of this varietal showcasing the freshness and floral qualities for which this wine is well known.
The grapes were crushed gently in the gravity flow winery and then fermented at 13°C, maintaining the purity of the fruit flavours throughout. 20% of the wine was then aged for two months in small, first-use French oak barrels. After blending the wine was then clarified, bottled and aged for a further four months.
Enjoy chilled as an apéritif, this versatile wine also works in harmony with intense, spicy flavours found in Japanese, Thai or Chinese cuisine. The traditional pairing is with hot meat empanadas.
