Fresh and zesty on the palate, full of crystalline pear and ripe apple flavours
Launched in 2002, Monsoon Valley is owned by Siam Winery, one of the founders and innovators of the Thai wine industry. Monsoon Valley wines are made from perfectly ripened and carefully selected grapes at their Hua Hin Hills vineyard. The terrain of loamy-sand and slate and constant ocean breeze allow international grape varieties to thrive and produce aromatic, award-winning wines.
A dry and warm vintage, which resulted in the grapes reaching full maturity. The wines express good varietal characteristics.
The vineyards are located on the Hua Hin Hills estate. The vines, which have been imported from Australia and France, are planted in an ancient elephant coral where deep sandy loam and slate soils combined with cooling ocean breezes, create balanced and aromatic wines.
The grapes were harvested once they had reached the desired level of maturity. Short, cold skin maceration took place to extract aromatics prior to a gentle pressing. Only the free run juice was used, which underwent a cold fermentation in temperature controlled stainless steel vats, without malolactic fermentation, retaining the crisp style. The wine was made without any oak influence in order to showcase the purity of fruit.
Appealing green apple, zesty lime and vibrant tropical notes are complemented by sun-ripened citrus flavours and balanced by a crisp backbone of acidity through to the finish.
A delicious match with fragrant Thai curries, but especially Thai red curry.
