Cool climate aromas of passion fruit and elderflower lead to a punchy, aromatic palate finishing on a peppery and vibrant note.
Fox Gordon is a family run winery specialising in contemporary, premium and award winning wines from the Barossa Valley and Adelaide Hills. From a diverse selection of grape varieties, each bottle is the ultimate fusion of wine and fashion. Made using the Fox Gordon philosophy of low input and low yield to give maximum flavour, while preserving the inherent qualities of the fruit and the site; these stylish wines are modern, bright and vibrant.
In the Adelaide Hills the low winter and spring rainfall brought about a very dry start to the vintage and in some cases irrigation was required, which is rare for this region. The rains that arrived in late January were invaluable, resulting in above average yields. The 2016 vintage has been hailed as one of the best all-round vintages of the past decade, with excellent quality fruit.
The Fox Gordon Sauvignon Blanc estate is one of the premier Sauvignon Blanc vineyards in the region. The vines are grown at the Kuitpo Forest vineyard, which sits at an elevation of 380 metres above sea level, overlooking the McLaren Vale and the sparking Gulf of St. Vincent. The soil is deep brown loam and is consistent through the vineyard, allowing even ripening which is very important for Sauvignon Blanc.
A very fruit driven style of Sauvignon Blanc. The winemaking involved minimal intervention in order to obtain as much fruit flavour from the vineyard into the wine. The juice was kept cool and clean throughout fermentation, after which the wine was settled and maintained at cold temperatures until bottling.
This wine has elegant flavours of honeysuckle and elderflower. The aromatics are punchy and rich, yet have a delicacy associated with the cool climate of the Adelaide Hills.
Pairs beautifully with goat’s cheese, prosciutto and minted cantaloupe melon.
