Tasting NoteGunflint on the nose with a hint of smoke. The fruit on the palate is showing signs of a creamy, buttery core but is restrained and soft. Crisp and dry on the finish.
Producer DetailsAs a point of principle the producer of this wine does not buy from the co-operative in Chablis. This makes their style of Chablis quite distinctive from the hoi polloi of Chablis. For ‘La Lotte’, they source directly from a network of growers, taste their submissions blind and put together their own unique blend. Samantha Bailey, the winemaker responsible for buying and blending ‘La Lotte’, aims for a style which marries depth on the palate with the finesse and raciness of classic Chablis, whilst avoiding the eyewatering austerity which mars so many generics.
In The VineyardGrapes are sourced from Chablis vineyards, in the most northerly region of Burgundy, around Auxerre.
In The WineryCool growing conditions result in a wine that is dry and fresh, yet full-flavoured.
Food RecommendationsSimply cooked fish, uncomplicated Cantonese cuisine, buttery roast chicken.
