Producer Note
The Parpinello family has run this 30 hectares estate & winery with passion for three generations. Giampaolo Parpinello and his son Paolo strive to maintain the respect for the typicity of the wines from the Sardinian terroir. The vineyards are situated on a gentle slope between Alghero and Sassari, in the North-West of the island. In order to reflect this typicity the most modern winemaking technology is successfully combined with traditional farming, respectful of the ecosystem. The result is righ quality wines with aromas and flavours, which recall those of the territory from which they originate.
Vineyard
Ala Blanca means white wing in Italian. "Here come the white wings" was the children's cry as they watched the seagulls fly over the vineyard. Vermentino is the main white grape cultivated in Sardinia. It is presumed to have Spanish origins, but has found its ideal setting in the North of Sardinia, where it can fully express its particular characteristics, delicacy, and Mediterranean hints. The vineyards are located on gentle slopes between Alghero and Sassari, where the vines are planted to a high density in a mixture of geological formations such as calcareous marne, conglomerate and sandstone. The newest innovation methods are implemented in the cultivation methods whilst respecting tradition and the ecosystem of the geographical location.
Winemaking
The wine was traditionally vinified with a temperature controlled maceration and fermentation at 15°C. The wine saw no wood during vinification in order to preserve the varietal characteristics of the Vermentino grape, whilst also expressing the elements of terroir from which it hails.
Serving Suggestion
Perfect as an apéritif, but also an ideal and elegant accompaniment to fish dishes, seafood and white meat served in a creamy sauce.
