We passionately believe in the quality, and quality-price ratio, of Chile. Our wine sourcer, Steve Daniel, spent his formative years in the Wine Trade introducing Chile to the wine public of Great Britain. Time and time again we return to Chile to look for great wines at great prices, working with a network of long-established contacts in vineyards and in wineries to obtain the best fruit and the best conditions in which to turn it into great-value wine! The Tierra Antica range includes a collection of attractively packaged wines which represent wonderful value for money.
The 2016 season was characterised by a wetter weather and cooler temperatures during the summer months, than previous years. Weather conditions were favourable until the harvest, when heavy rain fell due to El Niño, reducing yields on some varieties. The 2016 wines are showing vibrant, refreshing acidity.
The grapes are carefully sourced from the Central Valley. The vines are vertically positioned, spaced at 1.5 x 2.2 m and drip irrigated. The crops are green harvested to eliminate short shoots and to concentrate the flavours in the remaining berries.
Most of the grapes were hand-harvested the first week of March and only a small fraction was machine picked to ensure freshness. Carefully selected bunches were fermented at 12° to 16° in stainless steel to retain both freshness and the varietal aromatics and characteristics. The wine was stabilised for 15 to 20 days at a temperature of 4°C and then earth-filtered prior to bottling.
A creamy yet elegant wine with luscious tropical fruit and white peach flavours, beautifully balanced by a fresh finish.
Enjoy as an apéritif, with salads or seafood.
