The Lolita of the wine world - Portugal’s most famous white wine begs to be drunk as young as possible, where its lithe and charming freshness tenders maximum pleasure. Now thankfully back in fashion (the occasional Hollywood star spotted languidly sipping a glass or two helps), Vinho Verde is sourced from Portugal’s most northerly region, where the relatively cool, damp climate creates fresh whites (Vinho Verde means “green wine.”) Brisa do Mar’s cool, tempting label presages an alluring come-hither nose of freshly cut green grass and a hint of lime extract, followed by the thirst-quenching tang of elderflower and citrus with just a hint of petillance to round off the finish.
Brisa do Mar is sourced from Portugal's largest and most northerly DOC, Vinho Verde. The region covers an area up to the Minho River in the North, the mountainous areas in the east and south and the Atlantic Ocean to the west.
The grapes were harvested, sorted and then each variety was fermented separately in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks, preserving the refreshing aromas and flavours from each of the grape varieties. No oak was used and the wine was bottled early to retain freshness and delicate aromatics.
Vinho Verde means 'green wine', referring not to the wine's colour, but to its fresh, fruity youthfulness. Like a crisp sea breeze from the Atlantic, Brisa do Mar is a refreshing wine to be enjoyed throughout the year.
Young and delicate, it is delicious served with fresh fish, seafood, white meat dishes with delicate sauces and summer salads.
