I am now back in Blighty and catching up with emails and post etc! Tickets have been selling well for our forthcoming Tutored Spanish Wine Tasting at the Lord Leycester Hospital in Warwick on Friday 24 September. We are very thrilled that Rosa Maria Jose, owner of Pinord winery in Penedes, is flying over to be at the tasting and will be talking about Pinord and their wines. On show will be eight delicious wines and proceeds from the evening will go to Cord charity with whom we have previously worked. Tickets for this event, priced at just £12.50 each, are now on sale both on our website and through Cord and Lord Leycester Hospital. so don’t delay, rally your friends and come and join us for an evening of great wines whilst raising money for an extremely worthwhile charity.

We are also holding an Italian Wine Evening at home on Saturday 18 September, where we will show 10 stunning wines from various regions of Italy, followed by a two course fork supper, for which we must make a charge of £25.00 per person. We still have a handful of tickets left for this event so phone or email us now to reserve places. The evening starts at 7.30pm with the tasting starting promptly at 7.45pm, and we would expect it to finish around midnight.

One of the emails that I received was a bin end list from which I have picked the following wines:

Hannenhof Semillon 2008 (£9.55 down from £11.03) - delicious single varietal Semillon from Australia

Tierra Antica Reserva Sauvignon Blanc 2008 (£5.95) - Reserva quality Sauv from Chile but at an everyday price, should be £7.00+

Chablis 2008, Patrick Puize (£10.77 down from £14.53) - this has thrown some harmless tartrates, so pour carefully and enjoy!

Pinot Grigio 2008, Basilicata (£5.95 down from £7.15) - PG with real taste from Southern Italy

Tierra Antica Reserva Pinot Noir 2008 (£5.95) - easy drinking NW Pinot Noir from Chile, wrong wine shipped!!

Valpolicella Classico 2008, Corte Olivi (£6.69 down from £7.50) - great with al fresco meals and lighter meats

Carmen Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva 2008 (£6.35 down from £8.08) - correct wine but wrong label hence the price!!

Cotes du Rhone, Domaine Grand Tinel 2006 (£8.40 down from £10.15) - domaine bottled top quality Cotes du Rhone
