Tasting Note

An intense ruby red wine, on the nose it shows pleasant and persistent red fruits notes and violet scent. Fleshy on the palate with a rich harmonious body and fresh raspberries and blackcurrant aromas.

Producer Note

The Medici winery has been producing a top-of-the-range Lambrusco for over a century. It all began with Remigio Medici, who founded a wine cellar in the late nineteenth century, with the aim of making the most of the family vineyards, located between the Via Emilia and the first of the hills in the Enza valley. Today the company owns 60 hectares of land spread out among the finest wine-growing areas in the Emilia-Romagna region. An uncompromising quality philosophy leads the winemaking of this family who was duly rewarded by superb reviews, and awards such as Tre Bichierre, placing Lambrusco among Italy's top wines. The Favorita range is the latest born of this long story of passionate winemakers.

Vineyard

What lies behind the family's success is the idea of creating a close link between the individual vineyards and the wines produced, and the rigorous selection of the grapes. There are 60 different Lambrusco grapes varieties in Emilia Romagna, this wine is made from the Lambrusco Salamino and Lambrusco Marani planted in cordon system. Yields are very controlled, 30-40% lower than the quantity required to comply with the production regulations governing the DOC.

Winemaking

This Lambrusco, contrary to most of the Charmat method Lambrusco, have been naturally bottle-fermented following the methode traditionelle paired with a skilful vinification process, using entirely new machinery.

Serving Suggestion

Delicious with some of the dishes Emilia Romagna is famous for: pasta bolognese, cheesy tortellini, Parma ham, parmigiano-Reggiano. Very enjoyable with a red velvet, and most of the chocolate puddings or red fruit desserts.
