This wine develops more quickly than the Vintage Reserve, as there is less Chardonnay in the blend. Biscuity brioche on the nose, with delicate white flower and full fruit. Citrus, apple and 'leesy' characters add complexity to the palate.
Owned and run by Lawrence Warr, Henners is the result of a long term dream to produce the finest English Sparkling Wine. Lawrence started his career as an automotive engineer in the exciting world of Formula One. Having left Formula One, to set up an engineering consultancy, the search for the perfect vineyard site began. The search was a lengthy and dedicated one - as the ideal combination of soils, aspect, slope, altitude and microclimate was difficult to find. After two years he found the site at Herstmonceux, East Sussex. The vineyard was planted in May 2007, with the winery following in 2009. The 4ha (sandstone soil) vineyard, just 4 miles from the sea and 24m above sea level, is planted with 40% Chardonnay, 39% Pinot Noir and 21% Pinot Meunier. The Henners name derives from Lawrence's French ancestry. Henners Dubois was forced to flee Paris during the French Revolution, in the late 18th century.
In The Vineyard
Henners Vintage is produced solely from grapes grown on their outstanding estate.
In The Winery
They take a non-interventionist approach in the winery, made possible by the quality of the fruit. Vine clones and varieties are fermented separately to allow a broad pallet of wines for final blending. A proportion is fermented in aged oak barrels to add subtle character and layers to the wine. This wine spends over 27 months on its lees. Dosage of 10g/l.
Perfect aperitif or celebration wine.
