September is certainly going to be a very busy month for us.  Not only are we holding a small tutored Italian tasting at home on Saturday 18th (tickets by phone or email), but we are also in the throws of putting the finishing touches to the Tutored Spanish Wine Tasting at the Lord Leycester Hospital in Warwick on Friday 24th.  We are delighted that Rosa Maria Jose, owner of Pinord winery in Penedes, is flying over specially to talk about Pinord and their wines.  On show will be eight stunning wines and proceeds from the evening will go to Cord charity with whom we have previously worked.  Tickets for this event, priced at just £12.50 each, are now on sale both on our website and through Cord and Lord Leycester Hospital, but don’t delay as tickets have been selling well and numbers are limited.  So rally your friends and come and join us for an evening of great wines whilst raising money for an extremely worthwhile charity.  We are also doing a couple of smaller wine tastings, one of which is as a birthday present for someone, which we think is a great present for anyone who is interested in wine!

Whites

Echeverria Sauvignon Blanc 2009 (£7.24 down to £6.75) - a long standing, best selling Chilean Sauv Blanc
Carmen Sauvignon Blanc Reserva 2009 (£8.08 down to £6.86) - crisp clean Sauv with green apple acidity
Oveja Negra Winemakers Selection Sauvignon Carmenere 2009 (£7.79 down to £6.62) - v unusual blend which really works!

Reds

Echeverria Merlot Reserva 2006 (£9.26 down to £8.60) - juicy Merlot fruit complemented by oak aging
Carmen Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva 2008 (£8.08 down to £6.86) - clean curranty fruit with a nice expression of Cabernet
Carmen Pinot Noir Reserva 2009 (£8.08 down to £6.86) - some sweetness of strawberry fruit with a nice bit of grip on the finish
Oveja Negra Winemakers Selection Cabernet Franc Carmenere 2008 (£7.79 down to £6.62) - won Gold Award in Chilean wine awards

Many of you, I know, will be delighted to learn that whilst in Spain we re-negotiated the price of our Albarino so that with immediate effect it is permanently priced at just £10.85, which is an excellent price for such a stunning wine.  For those of you who are un-familiar with Albarino wines, they are made in the Rias Baixas area of Galicia in NW Spain from the grape of the same name, which many people believe is either the Riesling grape or very closely related to it.  They are wonderfully aromatic and fresh but with good body and length and they are the perfect accompaniment to fish and seafood, plus of course paella!  So why not try some by adding it to a mixed case, we guarantee that you will be coming back for more!
