A weighty dry rosé with a bright raspberry colour and an enticing aroma of cranberry and pomegranate with a hint of vanilla cone.
Château Lestrille Capmartin wines are full bodied, with structure and personality. The Château is located at the northern point of the Entre-deux-Mers appellation in the small town of St. Germain du Puch between Libourne and Bordeaux. Following the philosophy that winemaking lies in the vineyard itself, sustainable winegrowing practices are used in order to respect the balance of the soil. Talented winemaker Estelle Roumage combines strict selection, with a tailor-made approach to vinification. Each parcel is vinified with minimal intervention to respect and optimise the characteristics of the vintage and terroir, with subtle oak ageing, creating charming wines with the utmost appeal.
For Estelle Roumage the best wines come from having the utmost respect for the land, fruit and people and so sustainable practices are used throughout the vineyards. A good proportion of clay in the soil imparts their Merlot with a good depth in the final wine.
This Clairet is a wonderful example of a fruity rosé with an excellent depth and an original combination of tradition and modern winemaking. The old Bordeaux word Clairet means a clear or light red wine in French. The grapes underwent skin contact for a period of 12 hours to obtain the rich, deep colour of the wine. This wine was made through the "saignée" or bleeding method, with a cool fermentation preserving the aromatics and purity of flavour. The wine was then aged on its lees adding complexity and weight to the palate.
Bright raspberry in colour, with an enticing aroma of cherries and strawberries combined with a delicate hint of rose petals. Fruity and fresh with generous body and a lingering finish.
Pairs well with Indian and Asian cuisine, antipasti, Parma ham, grilled squid and pizza.
