Broken Shackle Classic Rose, South Eastern Australia, NV

An easy drinking style of rose with a touch of strawberries through to a fresh, off dry finish.

Producer Note

It is the simplicity of the fruit, the sheer crunchy gluggable vivacity of the liquid, that first established Australia as everyone's favourite vineyard. It's what we aim for in Broken Shackle. Berton Vineyards is one of our longest-standing producers. Having established his own vineyard in 1996 in South Australia's Eden Valley, after a lot of hard yakka Bob Berton purchased a state-of-the-art winery in Yenda, NSW, in 2007 and now sources fruit in the heart of the Riverina.

Vineyard

Sourced from vineyards throughout the Riverina region on vines which have been spur pruned. Vine age is varied. Vines are planted roughly 1.8m apart with 3.6m between the rows to allow machinery access.

Winemaking

Fermented in stainless steel to retain freshness.

Tasting Note

Made from an unusual grape assemblage which makes for a well-structured wine, the palate is lively, displaying sweet red berry fruits that are nicely balanced by a
fresh acidity.

Serving Suggestion

This wine is a great accompaniment for pan seared shellfish, barbequed meats or Rogan Josh.

Grape

Sangiovese 69%, Barbera 17%, Shiraz 13%, Other Varieties 1%

Lovely rosé, goes well with most food, or with no food!
Had it with a meal in a certain restaurant, and decided to buy a case as we couldn’t find it in the high street, Wine Poole were by far the best value with the best reviews.

Perfect for summer parties as it has both the dryness of a serious rose mixed with dollops of sweet raspberries. Good price, too

An excellent Australian Wine, first discovered a few years ago in a tiny restaurant in Chertsey at £20 a bottle..on searching the Net, found Wine Poole selling at a great price. Their delivery time is next to nothing. Both the wine, and distributor are brilliant.
