Bold wines with bold labels – if you've got it, flaunt it! Sourced from the rich Central Valley vineyards and exhibiting all of the maximum-freshness fruit for which Chile is famous, these wines certainly punch above their weight and lend argument to the view that Chile is the world's most exciting wine region at the moment.
The grapes were carefully sourced from selected growers in the Valle Central, which encompasses the subregions of the Maipo Valley, Rapel Valley, Curico Valley and the Maule Valley. The Central Valley is a 1,000 km plateau which sits between the Andes Mountains and the cool Pacific Ocean. The climate, with its warm sunny days, cooler evenings and intense sunlight encourages a long growing season, which is ideally suited to producing healthy grapes with concentrated fruit flavours. The soils are fertile and the vineyards benefit from a natural irrigation from the melted snow from the Andes.
The grapes were harvested when they had reached full maturity and were fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. This wine was made in an unoaked style in order to retain the fruity characteristics of the Merlot variety.
A quality and delicately complex wine, with notes of coffee and toffee on the nose, alongside the more usual red plum flavours. Indecently consistent and representing great value-for-money.
The fruitiness of this wine goes very well with simple cuisine such as pizza, creamy risotto, mushroom-based dishes or spicy sausage.
