The General 2014, Western Cape

Tasting notes

An unconventional Bordeaux-blend, but without the Cabernet Sauvignon! A generous, full bodied red crafted by deftly blending the “forgotten” Bordeaux varietals of classy Cabernet Franc, marvellous Malbec and powerful Petit Verdot and ever so often, some magical Merlot (perhaps). Ripe hedgerow fruits, wet gravel, pulverised blueberries and brambles and ample spice notes are enhanced by velvety tannins and a hint of oak.

Producer note

Boer & Brit is the combination of winemakers Stefan Gerber, a great, great grandson of President Paul Kruger and Alexander Milner a great, great grandson of Field Marshall John French. These two have, more than a hundred years after the bitter rivalry of their forefathers, created Boer & Brit, a range of dynamic and exciting wines that have gone down a storm both in South Africa and abroad.

Vineyard note

This wine comes from various blocks that vary between 48m and 148m above sea level. All the slopes are south to south east facing.
