Classic Cabernet, deeply coloured showing minty and exotic blackcurant fruit with a mouthfilling texture, smooth and rich.

Tasting Note

Perfumed fruits of the forest and menthol undertones make this exotic Cabernet sing. It is smooth and rich but with a silky moreish finish.

Producer Note

Established by Kym Teusner and Michael Page in 2001, Teusner’s philosophy is to produce only exceptional, affordable wines by being very selective about the fruit, which is sourced from old, well maintained vineyards in Barossa. These vineyards reliably produce balanced, complex fruit which are guided, with minimal input, into stunning wines. Kym decided to make the Righteous Shiraz because he wanted to showcase his own expression of what he considers the ultimate Barossa Valley Shiraz style...intense, powerful and long-lived.


Eden Valley saw good winter rainfall, but low rainfall in January and the lowest mean maximum temperature in January for 23 years. Eden Valley avoided the hot February seen elsewhere in the region, instead enjoying a wonderful ripening period with no hot spells. Standout varieties are Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, with yields just below average.


The vineyard is approximately 16 years old and is located on the edge of High Eden, in the Eden Valley. This area has a cool climate, with high winds, which ventilate the vineyards. The soils are very depleted and low in nutrients, with a high level of ironstone. Mulching is carried out in the vineyard to compensate for the low water availability. The vines produce low yields of between one and two and a half tonnes per acre, often lower, resulting in concentrated fruit.


The fruit was de-stemmed and fermented in five to ten tonne open fermenters, with twice daily pump overs. A neutral yeast was used during the fermentation, which took place at temperatures of 20 to 24°C and lasted for five days. The wine was pressed to barrel. Predominantly older oak was used for the maturation, with a small proportion of refreshed barrels. The wine rested in barrel for 12 months.
