Redfin Cabernet Merlot 2008

Producer

Redfin was created by Liberty Wines, working with winemaker Tim James, with the specific aim of producing wines from Australia that
once again generated excitement at this price level. Australia achieved its number one position by over-delivering on quality, but in
recent years an emphasis on promotion seems to have become more important than quality.

Vineyards

The grapes are all sourced from selected vineyards in South Australia, with 55% of the fruit coming from the Riverland region, 30% from the
McLaren Vale and 15% from Padthaway.

Vintage InformationCool and dry conditions persisted in the New Year, providing excellent conditions for vine health and flavour development. 2008 reds show
good balance, firm tannins and plenty of flavour.

Vinification

The grapes were 100% de-stemmed and crushed and cold macerated on the skins for 3 days at 12ºC to extract primary fruit flavour
compounds. Maceration on the skins continued for a further 7 days to extract colour and tannin. Oak maturation took place using 100%
French oak for 14 months.

Tasting Notes

Ruby red in colour with a purple hue. On the nose this wine displays lifted blackberry and blueberry aromas with nuances of mocha
chocolate and subtle oak tones. The palate is soft, round and rich with generous blackcurrant, cinnamon and cherry flavours and a lingering
finish. A tight tannin structure is complemented by subtle nutty oak.
