Domaine René Monnier was founded in 1723. The Domaine is now in the hands of the tenth generation of the family who own 16 hectares of vineyards in the best crus of the Côte de Beaune. Great attention is paid to limiting the yields in the vineyards. This guarantees the best possible quality of juice, with the correct balance between fruit and acidity. René Monnier's wines are well known in three star restaurants.
Pommard is a village appellation of the Cote de Beaune. Its 917 acres of vineyards are situated exclusively around the village of Pommard
Grapes: 100% Pinot Noir from family owned vineyards
Harvest: By hand
Vinification: High temperature fermentation in open top oak barrels with twice daily pumping over skins to extract maximum colour
Ageing: 16 months in French oak barrels. 1/3 of the wine was aged in new oak
Colour: Intense ruby red
Taste: Elegant with a nose of violets , pepper and cassis and a fine, silky texture. Will age for up to 7 years from vintage.
Serve: At 15°C to accompany roast red meats, lamb and duck
