A soft and jammy wine full of cooked red fruits flavours with a touch of vanilla.
Launched in 2002, Monsoon Valley is owned by Siam Winery, one of the founders and innovators of the Thai wine industry. Monsoon Valley wines are made from perfectly ripened and carefully selected grapes at their Hua Hin Hills vineyard. The terrain of loamy-sand and slate and constant ocean breeze allow international grape varieties to thrive and produce aromatic, award-winning wines.
A dry and warm vintage, which resulted in the grapes reaching full maturity. The wines express good varietal characteristics.
The vineyards are located on the Hua Hin Hills estate. The vines, which have been imported from Australia and France, are planted in an ancient elephant coral where deep sandy loam and slate soils combined with cooling ocean breezes, create balanced and aromatic wines.
The grapes were carefully selected and then 50% underwent a temperature controlled vinification, while the remaining 50% underwent a traditional skin maceration starting at 15°C rising to a maximum temperature of 27°C. The wine spent three to five days post maceration, before malolactic fermentation and micro-oxygenation. The majority of the wine was aged in oak barrels of different sizes, ranging from 500 litres to 2,000 litres; approximately 20 to 30% was aged in stainless steel to retain the bright fruit flavours.
Bright flavours of Morello cherry are complemented by hints of cedar wood and dark chocolate. The smoothly textured palate has balanced tannins and a good concentration of fruit with a seamless finish.
A delicious Shiraz that accompanies smoky barbequed meats, beef based curries or a Penang Curry.
