A pleasingly light bodied wine showing redcurrant fruit through to a savoury finish.
Launched in 2002, Monsoon Valley is owned by Siam Winery, one of the founders and innovators of the Thai wine industry. Monsoon Valley wines are made from perfectly ripened and carefully selected grapes at their Hua Hin Hills vineyard. The terrain of loamy-sand and slate and constant ocean breeze allow international grape varieties to thrive and produce aromatic, award-winning wines.
2013 was a dry and warm vintage resulting in fully ripened grapes with excellent flavour concentration and varietal typicity.
Vines which have been imported from Australia and France are planted in an ancient elephant coral where deep sandy loam soil and slate create balanced and aromatic wines with the help of cooling ocean breezes.
The fruit underwent traditional fermentation in temperature controlled tanks. Post fermentation maceration lasted four days before being matured in a combination of stainless steel tanks and oak for six months.
Aromas of plums and red fruits and a soft and velvety texture which lingers on the palate with leathery undertones and berry notes on the finish.
Especially good with red curries, beef salad, Panang Beef and chilli pork dishes.
Shiraz 50%, Dornfelder 30%, Pokdum 10%
