A fragrant wine, deep inky in colour with violet and dried flower perfume. Ripe black cherry and blackberry fruits accented with pepper. A medium-bodied wine with finely textured tannins and juicy sweet black fruit on the palate.
Named 'Winery of the Year' in James Halliday's 2011 Wine Companion, Larry Cherubino wants his wines to be distinctive and to speak clearly of their variety and vineyard site. He believes in spending time in the vineyard, in paying attention to canopy and water management, and most importantly, picking at the right time with minimal interference in the winery. From delicate whites to big reds his wines have class and finesse.
The fruit was selected and hand-picked from sites across Frankland River, Western Australia. Cold maceration for 4 days preceded a long, cool fermentation. This wine spent 6 months in oak (new and 1 year old oak), prior to bottling.
