The Parpinello family have run this 30 hectare estate and winery with dedication and passion for three generations. Giampaolo Parpinello and his son Paolo strive to reflect the Sardinian terroir and reveal the typicity of the wines. The vineyard is situated on a gentle slope between Alghero and Sassari in the North West of the island. In order to reflect this typicity, modern winemaking technology is successfully combined with traditional farming methods, resulting in high quality wines with intense aromas and flavours, evocative of the terroir from which they originate.
2015 was a year characterised by low rainfall and a high average temperature, therefore supplemental irrigation was required in order for the grapes to achieve full maturity. The light wind which distinguishes the Cagnulari vineyard ensured the grapes were in good condition at harvest.
The Isola dei Nuraghi IGT appellation covers the entire Sardegna administrative region. The Nuraghi are ancient megalithic edifices found in Sardinia, which were developed during the Nuragic Age between 1900 and 730 BC. They have come to be symbolic of Sardinia and its distinctive culture. The vineyard is located on gentle slopes between Alghero and Sassari, where the vines are planted to a high density in a mixture of geological formations such as calcareous marne, conglomerate and sandstone. The vineyard is cultivated respecting tradition and the ecosystem of the geographical location.
Cagnulari is the name of the red grape variety whose origins can be traced back to Spain, yet it is found predominantly in the North West of Sardinia, largely due to the Aragonese occupation of the area in the 1600s. The wine was carefully crafted, with the grapes being manually harvested and the clusters, carefully selected. The grapes were vinified with a maceration lasting for 10 to12 days at controlled temperatures of 22°C.
A deep, intense Cagnulari with delicate aromas of wild flowers backed by concentrated, ripe red fruits and a touch of spice. Dry and elegantly structured with a smooth finish.
Perfect with traditional Sardinian cuisine such as starters of cured meats, roasted red meats or cheese.
