“Ruby hued, full-bodied, single-vineyard red, estate-grown in the Bridge Pa Triangle. Very good depth of plum and spice flavours, with a hint of tamarillo, and the structure to age”
A deep aroma of bright raspberry and cherry cola fruit, with hints of vanilla and white pepper spice. The palate is medium bodied with wonderful balance and fine length and tannin.
Moderate yields and warm dry ripening conditions allowed the 2013 Syrah fruit to be harvested in optimal condition and flavour ripeness. The fruit was harvested from the Tantallon vineyard in the Bridge Pa sub region of Hawkes Bay. The soils of the area are the result of deposits of river soils from ancient floods and changes in the river course over time. These pebbly, mineral rich soils reflect heat and are very free draining making them ideal for growing Syrah.
A winemaking regime of moderate tannin extraction and oak use allows this wine to highlight the exceptional fruit purity gained from the vineyard and season. Maturation for 12 months in new and used French oak barriques has helped to further soften the wine.
The wine was bottled, without fining, in July 2014.
