A voluptuous deep red Monastrell blend from the fashionable Yecla region, that is oozing with character. Full bodied with dense black forest gateau flavours and a seductive touch of spice on the velvety finish.

The quirky presentation is a nod to the current trend for a twist of the unconventional, capturing the irony and sense of humour that is the essence of this latest labelling vogue. Yes, it's a bit edgy, it's a bit off the wall, it's a bit bonkers...and if you are not comfortable being edgy, off the wall or bonkers, well, these might not be the wines for you! Meanwhile, our innovative team of winemakers have been busy crafting the quality fruit into wines bursting with fresh flavours and finesse. The Viura-Sauvignon blend is an energizing, thirst-quenching ensemble, all pink grapefruit and honeydew melon, the Rosado is sultry and luscious, the Monastrell is hot and fiery, strutting like a macho young Madrileno. Encantador is made exclusively for Hallgarten Druitt and blended by their buyer Steve Daniel. We think it's good to try something a little off the wall every now and then, one sip and you'll be charmed, we're sure...
During the winter, the temperatures were higher than average for the region. The weather conditions and severe drought during 2014, meant the growers faced atypical conditions, resulting in an earlier harvest than usual. Fruit was of excellent quality.
The soil is lime bearing with sandy loam topsoil which is poor in organic matter and has a low nitrogen content. The un-grafted vines of Monatrell are planted in the same soil and in exactly the same way as before the Phylloxera plague of the 1890s. These vines are low yielding and impart great concentration to the wine.
Sourced from the low yielding vines of the Southern region of Yecla, the Monastrell and Merlot grapes were vinified in the traditional way, meticulously blended to create a wine of great character and depth.
Versatile enough to accompany roasted or grilled meats, stews and rice dishes.
