Grapes: 100% estate grown Syrah grapes from pre-phylloxera French rootstock.
Harvest: Hand harvested at the end of March.
Soil: Loam & clay with well drained gravely subsoil.
Vinification: Fermented to dryness in 25,000L oak tanks for 7 days at 25-28C. Extended skin maceration for an additional 10 days. 100% malolactic fermentation took place. Aged for 12 months in 225L American and French oak barrels. Alc 14.5%, R/s 3.4 g/l.
Colour: Intense violet red
Serve: At room temperature to accompany grilled roast red meats, and rich pasta dishes.
Tasting Aromas of ripe red berries like raspberries, blueberries and cherries with scents of dark chocolate, black pepper and leather. In the mouth the wine is round and well balanced with soft and ripe tannins and a lingering finish.
