Dona Paula Seleccion de Bodega Malbec 2012

Tasting notes

Intense deep violet colour; clean aromas of dark forest berries, graphite notes, black cherry, mocha and spice box. Beautifully structured Malbec retaining elegance, finesse and multi layered complexity.

Producer note
Dona Paula is a leading, modern winery at the forefront of exploring and investing in new, high quality wine regions in Argentina. First established in 1997, they own all of their vineyards covering 700 hectares. These vineyard sites are located in the best sub-regions within Mendoza including Ugarteche, Altamira,
Gualtallary and Tupungato. They practice sustainable methods in the vineyards, maximising the true expression of terroir. Their continuous innovation in terms of vineyard management ensures top quality wines from one year to the next.

Estate note

Grapes are sourced from 3 sub regions within Mendoza considered to be the best terroir for growing Malbec. Finca El Alto in Ugarteche (Lujan de Cuyo), Finca Alluvia in Gualtallary (Uco Valley) and Finca los Indios in Altamira (Uco Valley).

Soil

Combination.

Viticulture

A blend of some of the best and oldest Malbec sourced from Dona Paula's estate vineyards in Guatallary (Uco Valley), Altamira (Uco Valley) and Ugarteche (Lujan de Cuyo). Blocks include some 42 year old high density planted vines with naturally low yields. All of Dona Paula's vineyards are managed using sustainable agricultural practices. All the grapes are hand selected before being transferred to the winery.

Vinification
Grapes undergo cold maceration before alcoholic fermentation to preserve primary fruit aromas. Wild fermented by native yeasts at low temperatures and aged in 100% new French Taransaud barriques for 14-18 months. This wine is not filtered.
